Paid for four heat Pumps at four newbuilds after problems galore and a lot of money spent the first heat pump is now scrap.

We tried to go Green!

Just to give you an idea, I heat a 660 sq general area (LV and 2 BR) over a basement with one unit and a very large kitchen with tons of windows and no insulation, and extension over a slab, with another one. I paid close to $13000 for both and to have them installed. I have a solar panels and I generate enough electricity that I can run both heaters at 70 degrees from early October to the beginning of January and not pay anything on my electric bill during that time. In January I switch to oil heat and turn off the electric heaters until mid April. I very rarely use the AC, so have no significant rise in electric during the summer that would impact what the solar panels cover. That all seems great, but one caveat. The forced air heat gives more immediate, consistent and uniform heat. The bedrooms, because they are located further from the heat unit, are about 10 degrees colder than the living room, and the living room is constantly going up and down in heat. Because it is just me and I live and work in the living room, I am satisfied with this. I like the idea of using solar, and for me it works pretty well, although not perfectly well.

We live in British Columbia and had a Zumba central 4ton installed 3 hrs ago by a certified installer and are very pleased with the system. Absolutely no issues with it. It is our only source of heat and has never let us down ! Would recommend it to friends and family !!!

We own a small 12 room inn and we have 10 Mitsubishi 12000 btu ducted mini splits on our property. When we built our property we assumed the HVAC contractor would use the best products available. We spared no expense. I should have done my homework. I will never purchase a Mitsubishi product again. In 6 years we have had to replace every single coil. We have heard every excuse in the book. From the cleaning products we use (minimal household products) to cheap Chinese copper to “off-gassing”. A 100% failure rate is a product defect. We have been round and round with our HVAC contractor. We are about to close on the sale of our property and I feel bad for the new owners. And we just realized that the warranties are not transferable. I don’t understand this. Either you stand behind your product or you don’t. Obviously, Mitsubishi doesn’t.

guess your lucky….I bought the split system..I have 5 units….when they work their great but it’s been 3 1/2 years and 1 unit is leaking water in my living room…this will be the 2nd visit for that unit…and yes they fixed it….waiting on parts to another unit in the spare bedroom that hasn’t been used more than twice…don’t understand how something breaks down when not even being used….O ,,,I bought from a company ,,had real installers…….My old system was heat pump ,,,which I had 30 years and never had a service call….Now reading all this I’m scard to death

Great heating and cooling….and economical to run. Has run without a problem for 12 years.

The 3rd winter in use the heat pump broke down. Took a couple of weeks to get the new part .
The new part was not the correct part and I am now sitting in the cold with a couple of supplementary heat sources waiting for the compressor to be replaced. While the unit is on a 20 year warranty the labor is not. My bill so far for 2 visits is over $1600 and I expect that it will take another $800 visit to fix the heat pump. I am on a island in Maine so the logistics are more difficult. While the heat pump was efficient and heated my insulated house I would recommend a brand of heat pumps whose repair persons are close by. No heat pump should break down during the 3rd winter of use into a 20 year warranty. I do not recommend Mitsubishi for its lack of durability.

We had Mitsubishi split system heat pump plus 2 addl heads installed by the dealer. I compliment the efficiency, low noise, low elect bills. My low mark is the thermostats. After 6 return service calls to reset the units we were told that the units do not work on ‘auto’ setting to switch from heat to cool as the day gets warmer. All 3 must be set to heat or cool as desired. You also cant set 2 to cool and one to heat for example. With hot days and cool nights you must change the settings twice a day. The other problem is on cool setting it doesnt seem to know when to stop. Right now it is set for cool 72 but it is 66 in the house and still blowing cold air. Friends with other brands are able to set it and forget it. Yes we are disappointed.
